Xanadu and Telus Collaborate to Develop Canada’s First Quantum Computing Infrastructure
News Summary
Xanadu Quantum Technologies Inc. and TELUS have announced a pioneering partnership to advance sovereign quantum computing infrastructure within Canada. Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding, the collaboration aims to establish a hybrid quantum-classical computing infrastructure, marking one of the first of its kind globally. This initiative will integrate Xanadu’s photonic quantum computing expertise with TELUS’ network, AI capabilities, and data centre operations. The partnership seeks to provide Canadian enterprises, researchers, and government organizations with access to next-generation quantum computing capabilities, which could lead to significant advancements in AI, drug discovery, cyber and national security. This move also aims to retain critical data and intellectual property within Canada. The project follows the OPTIMISM project, supported by both Canadian and Ontario governments with up to $390 million to enhance Canada’s quantum technology supply chain.
