Vancouver-based Reusables Secures $3.6 Million to Combat Single-Use Waste
News Summary
Vancouver-based startup Reusables has raised $3.6 million CAD in a seed funding round aimed at reducing single-use waste in institutional food service operations. Co-founded by Jason Hawkins and Anastasia Kiku, Reusables offers a hardware-enabled software-as-a-service platform that allows food service operators to replace single-use packaging with reusable containers. The funding round was co-led by Amplify Capital, StandUp Ventures, and Sandpiper Ventures, with participation from Emend Vision Fund. Reusables plans to use the new capital to expand its partnerships across North America, enhance its team, and further develop its platform. The company operates in six states and provinces, including Ontario. The startup’s clients have reportedly reused over 500,000 containers, preventing more than 25 tons of packaging waste. The announcement of the funding round coincided with Earth Day, when the University of California announced the deployment of Reusables on its campuses. Reusables was founded in 2021 and has previously secured $5.9 million in grant funding. The company is on track to triple its revenue this year.
