Tetra Trust Advances Towards Launching Canadian Dollar Stablecoin CADD
News Summary
Calgary-based Tetra Trust has made significant progress towards launching its Canadian dollar-backed stablecoin, CADD. Following successful tests of CADD in a controlled, proof-of-concept environment, the stablecoin was transferred between National Bank and Wealthsimple, marking the first Canadian-dollar stablecoin movement between two financial institutions. Tetra aims to launch CADD in Q1 2026, emphasizing its potential to streamline payments and settlement while maintaining the safeguards of Canada’s financial system. CADD will be backed one-to-one by Canadian dollars under Canadian law. Tetra is expanding its CADD design partner program to include Canadian FinTech firms like Aquanow, Capco, Cybrid, and others to explore new use cases.
