TELUS has officially commenced the installation of a 125 km long submarine fibre optic cable stretching from Sept-Îles to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts across the St. Lawrence River. This infrastructure project, partially funded by the Government of Canada and costing approximately $20 million, aims to enhance telecommunications redundancy between Baie-Comeau and Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon. The cable, which is expected to become operational shortly after installation, is designed to provide a robust technological solution to withstand severe weather challenges, thereby serving as a reliable communications link for the region.
