Stellantis Cancels All-Electric Ram 1500 Pickup Plans
News Summary
Stellantis, the parent company of the Ram brand, has announced the discontinuation of its plans to develop a fully electric Ram 1500 pickup truck. The decision was made in response to declining demand for full-size battery-electric trucks in the North American market. Instead, Stellantis will focus on an extended-range version of the Ram 1500, known as the Ram 1500 REV, which combines a battery with a gas generator to achieve an estimated range of 690 miles. This move is part of Stellantis’ reassessment of its product strategy in the electric vehicle sector. Initially slated for production in 2024, the all-electric version’s development had already been delayed to 2025 before ultimately being canceled. The extended-range Ram 1500 is expected to begin production in 2026.
