Spring Impact Capital Launches $14 Million Fund to Boost Canadian Climate and Healthtech Startups
News Summary
Vancouver-based Spring Impact Capital has successfully closed its first impact-focused venture capital fund, securing $14 million CAD to support early-stage Canadian startups in the climate and health technology sectors. Although the fund fell short of its original $20 million target, co-founder Olivia Hornby expressed satisfaction with the final result. The fund, launched in 2023 by leaders from Spring Activator, aims to address the growing demand for impact investing and fill gaps in Canada’s pre-seed and seed market. Spring Impact Capital has already invested over $2 million in eight startups, including BioAlert Solutions and RetinaLogik, with plans to support up to 25 startups in total. The fund’s limited partners include Social Finance Fund-backed Boann, Realize Capital Partners, and the Peter Gilgan Foundation.
