Space DOTS Secures $1.5M to Enhance Orbital Threat Detection
News Summary
Space DOTS, a London-based space startup founded by Bianca Cefalo in 2022, has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Female Founders Fund. The startup specializes in detecting space threats through its software platform, SKY-I, which aids space tech manufacturers and operators in identifying and interpreting natural and human-originated threats in orbit. The platform generates proprietary in-orbit environmental data, fuses it with external sources, and provides real-time attribution and forecasting capabilities. This funding round, which also saw participation from Feel Ventures and General Electric Company, brings the total funding for Space DOTS to $3.2 million. Cefalo, who has a background in working on major space projects such as the NASA Insight Mission to Mars, aims to use the new funds to expand her team in London and the U.S. and prepare the technology for upcoming space missions. The company’s vision is to democratize access to space knowledge, enhancing national infrastructure, civil safety, navigation, and defense.
