Rogers Expands 5G Services Across Eastern Ontario
News Summary
Rogers Communications, in collaboration with the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN), has launched 5G services in 34 communities across eastern Ontario. This expansion is part of the EORN Cell Gap Project, a $300 million public-private partnership aimed at enhancing cellular services in the region. The project, which involves the construction of approximately 332 cell towers, is designed to improve connectivity, boost public safety, and support local businesses and communities, including Indigenous areas. The federal and provincial governments, along with local municipal groups, have contributed significant funding to the project, with Rogers covering the remaining costs. The initiative marks a significant step in closing the cell service gaps faced by residents, businesses, and first responders in rural eastern Ontario.
