NATO Supports European Dual-Use Startups with DIANA Program
News Summary
NATO, in collaboration with the U.K., has launched its first cohort of startups under the Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) program, aimed at fostering dual-use technologies for both military and civilian applications. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance defense, resilience, and security (DSR) tech investments in Europe, which now constitute 10% of all VC funding in the region. The selected startups, which focus on AI, electronics, semiconductors, and materials science, were chosen from a pool of 2,400 applications. The U.K.’s Defense and Security Accelerator (DASA) is spearheading this effort in partnership with IoT Tribe, leading the Janus Consortium on dual-use technologies. The DIANA program connects startups with defense personnel and prime contractors through 23 affiliated accelerators and 182 test centers, accelerating the development of technologies that address surveillance and sensing needs.
