Meta and Anduril Collaborate on Military Mixed Reality Headsets
News Summary
Palmer Luckey, co-founder of Anduril, has reconnected with Meta to work on an ambitious project to develop mixed reality headsets for the U.S. military. This partnership follows the Soldier Borne Mission Command Next program, formerly run by Microsoft under the name Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS). After Microsoft faced challenges, the U.S. Army transferred management to Anduril, while Microsoft remains a cloud provider. This collaboration will involve Meta’s AR/VR technologies and Anduril’s Lattice command and control software, aiming to create a real-time battlefield intelligence display for soldiers. The product line, named EagleEye, continues to build on Luckey’s vision for military AR/VR applications.
