Light House’s Construction Plastics Initiative Expands with New Partners

Global

News Summary

Light House, the organization behind the Construction Plastics Initiative launched in 2024, has announced new partnerships with two major construction projects in Metro Vancouver. The initiative, focused on capturing, diverting, and upcycling plastic waste from construction sites, welcomes the Freedom Mobile Arch in Vancouver and the Steveston Community Centre in Richmond as its latest partners. General contractors EllisDon Corporation and Scott Construction are leading these projects, respectively. The plastic waste collected from these sites will be processed by Langley Plastics into reusable pellets. These pellets will then be integrated into manufacturing new building products, such as InfinaNet by Infina Technologies Inc., which reduces concrete usage in residential slab floors. This initiative aims to demonstrate the feasibility of circular economics in construction, promoting sustainable building practices.
