Hyundai to Offer Free NACS Adapters for EV Customers by 2025
News Summary
Hyundai has announced plans to provide free North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters to its electric vehicle (EV) customers, starting in the first quarter of 2025. This initiative will allow Hyundai EV owners to access Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network, which includes over 20,000 stations. The offer applies to owners of 2024 and earlier models of the Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq hatchback. Hyundai’s sibling brand, Kia, will also offer free NACS adapters to select customers. Future Hyundai models, such as the 2025 Ioniq 5, will come with a factory-installed NACS port, eliminating the need for an adapter. This move aligns with the US government’s announcement that NACS is becoming a widely adopted industry standard.
