Hyundai Offers Free Tesla Supercharger Adapters to EV Customers
News Summary
Hyundai announced a new initiative to provide free North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters to its electric vehicle (EV) customers. This move will enable Hyundai EV owners to access Tesla’s extensive supercharging network, which includes over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across the United States. The adapters will be available to customers who have purchased or leased a Hyundai EV, including the Kona Electric, Ioniq hatchback, Ioniq 5, and Ioniq 6 models, up to the model-year 2024. The 2025 models of Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5 N, and Kona Electric will also be eligible. Customers can request their free adapters through the MyHyundai online portal. This effort is part of a broader industry trend where multiple automakers are forming partnerships with Tesla to provide their customers the ability to charge their EVs using Tesla’s supercharger network. Hyundai plans to start distributing these adapters in early 2025, and future models will feature built-in NACS ports to facilitate easier charging.
