Google Announces Transition from Assistant to Gemini
News Summary
Google is officially transitioning from its longstanding Google Assistant to a new platform called Gemini. Over the coming months, users will be upgraded to Gemini across various devices including smartphones, tablets, cars, headphones, watches, speakers, displays, and TVs. Google Assistant, which debuted in 2016, will be phased out later this year, although devices with Android 9 or earlier and 2GB of RAM or less will retain access to the classic Assistant. The new system, Gemini, has been gradually enhanced and will offer new features, including a Gemini-powered experience to be unveiled during the company’s I/O event in May.
