Element5 Expands St. Thomas Plant with $107M Investment

Ontario

News Summary

Element5, a mass timber manufacturer based in Ontario, has celebrated the grand opening of its expanded $107 million facility in St. Thomas. This expansion significantly increases the plant’s size from 130,000 square feet to over 350,000 square feet, doubling its production capacity to 100,000 cubic meters annually of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glued-laminated timber (Glulam) products. The expansion has been facilitated by strategic investments from the HASSLACHER group and the Government of Ontario, which contributed $8 million through the Invest Ontario Fund. Founded in 2015, Element5 specializes in the design, fabrication, and assembly of timber structures, and its workforce has grown from 15 employees in 2020 to 175, with an additional 150 jobs to be created. The expansion aims to support communities across Ontario and North America with sustainable building solutions.
