DischargeHUB Revolutionizes Patient Discharge in Newfoundland & Labrador
News Summary
DischargeHUB, an innovative technology solution developed in Newfoundland & Labrador, is significantly improving patient discharge processes in hospitals across the province. By centralizing and digitizing non-medical steps associated with patient discharge, such as equipment coordination and community support arrangements, DischargeHUB is reducing the average length of hospital stays by 2.5 days and saving clinicians an average of 5 hours per patient. Initially piloted by Seafair Capital with NL Health Services and validated through a CAN Health Network project, the solution is now scaling across the province, handling an average of 60 discharges per month. This expansion is freeing up 1,800 bed-days and 3,600 clinical hours annually. DischargeHUB combines technological flows with traditional methods, ensuring seamless integration with various healthcare systems. The initiative not only enhances patient transitions but also contributes to the broader health innovation ecosystem in Newfoundland & Labrador, showcasing the potential for local solutions to address national healthcare challenges.
