CoreWeave Expands AI Compute Operations with New UK Data Centers
News Summary
CoreWeave, a leading AI compute provider valued at $19 billion, has launched its first international data centers in the UK, marking a significant expansion outside of its US base. With the opening of its European headquarters in London, CoreWeave has initiated two new data centers in Crawley and London Docklands, as part of a £1 billion ($1.25 billion) investment in the UK. These developments align with the UK government’s plans to enhance AI computing capabilities and infrastructure. Founded in 2017, CoreWeave initially focused on crypto mining but has pivoted to AI compute services, utilizing Nvidia’s advanced GPUs. The company plans further expansion with 10 additional data centers in 2025, including locations in Norway, Sweden, and Spain.
