News Summary
Cooper University Health Care has initiated the groundbreaking of ‘Project Imagine’, a $3 billion expansion of its Health Sciences Campus in Camden, New Jersey. This ambitious project is set to be the largest building investment in Camden’s history. The expansion aims to address the medical center’s clinical, educational, and research needs, while also significantly boosting the local economy by generating thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent healthcare positions. The centerpiece of the project includes the construction of three new patient towers with 745 private-room inpatient beds, enhanced surgical and emergency services, and a new Regional Medical Coordination Center to improve emergency response capacity. The first phase, Tower A, will feature 125 acuity-adaptable private rooms, expanded women’s services, and increased surgical capacity. The project is expected to be completed by 2028.
