Boulevard Raises $80 Million to Accelerate Growth in Self-Care Industry
News Summary
Boulevard, a provider of scheduling and payment software for the self-care sector, has raised $80 million in Series D funding, elevating its valuation to nearly $800 million. The funding round was led by JMI Equity with participation from Index Ventures and VMG Partners. Founded in 2016 by Matt Danna and Sean Stavropoulos, Boulevard initially focused on online scheduling for hair salons. However, it has since expanded to serve a wider array of self-care businesses, including barbershops, spas, and notably, medspas. The company’s revenue surged by over 500% in the last three years, largely due to its success in the medspa segment, which offers non-surgical and minimally invasive procedures. Boulevard has adapted its software to meet the needs of medspas by becoming HIPAA compliant and integrating features like visual charts for Botox and filler mapping. Currently, Boulevard supports approximately 15% of all medspas in the U.S. The company also implemented an online payment system, processing an estimated $5 billion in payments this year, to reduce appointment no-shows. Boulevard faces competition from other software providers like Zenoti, Fresha, and Booksy.
