Woodfibre LNG Progresses with Arrival of Key Liquefaction Module
News Summary
Woodfibre LNG has reached a significant milestone as the liquefaction module, considered the ‘heart’ of the facility, arrived at the site in Squamish. This module, weighing 10,847 metric tonnes, is the heaviest and among the largest components of the LNG project. The module will cool natural gas to approximately -162°C, converting it into an energy-dense liquid for global shipment. Notably, Woodfibre LNG is pioneering in using Siemens electric-drive motors powered by BC Hydro’s renewable power grid to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions typical in conventional LNG facilities. This commitment underscores the facility’s dedication to achieving net-zero operations. The completion of all 19 modules is expected by spring, with construction finishing in 2027.
