Zevo Partners with Tensor to Introduce Robotaxis to Its Car-Share Fleet
News Summary
Zevo, a Dallas-based startup, is expanding its electric vehicle car-share fleet by introducing robotaxis, beginning with a partnership with Tensor. Tensor, a newcomer that emerged from the Silicon Valley startup AutoX, plans to sell fully autonomous vehicles to consumers by 2026. Zevo intends to purchase up to 100 of Tensor’s cars to add to its network, aiming to create a decentralized robotaxi service. Despite the challenges Tensor faces in scaling production and gaining regulatory approval, Zevo’s co-founder Hebron Sher is optimistic about the collaboration. The partnership allows Zevo to integrate deeply with Tensor’s software, facilitating peer-to-peer sharing of autonomous vehicles. This move follows Zevo’s previous order of 1,000 vans from EV startup Faraday Future. Sher believes in taking calculated risks with startups to drive innovation in the autonomous vehicle industry.
