BiteSight, a Y Combinator-backed food delivery app, has rapidly gained traction by leveraging social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Founded by Lucious McDaniel IV and Zac Schulwolf, the app allows users to watch videos of food before ordering and see their friends’ recommendations. The startup’s viral marketing campaign, initiated by a TikTok video, propelled it to the No. 2 spot in the App Store’s Food and Beverage category, surpassing giants like Uber Eats and Starbucks. BiteSight’s unique approach focuses on social recommendations and short-form videos, which resonate with Gen Z consumers. Despite competition from established players like DoorDash, McDaniel believes BiteSight’s use of AI will enable it to maintain low overhead costs and provide better value to small business owners and customers. The app, currently available only in New York, has generated significant interest from investors and restaurants nationwide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
