In a significant development in the Canadian telecom sector, over 400,000 Canadians have expressed support for Telus in its ongoing battle against Bell regarding fibre internet infrastructure sharing. This support was garnered through a petition initiated by Telus, advocating for increased choice among internet service providers in Canada. The petition follows a CRTC ruling that allows Telus to sell services on Bell’s infrastructure, a decision that Bell is challenging, arguing it impacts their investment returns and infrastructure development. Despite the ruling, Bell is pausing its fibre rollout and is lobbying for a reversal. Meanwhile, Telus is expanding its PureFibre connectivity across various Canadian regions, though it remains unclear whether this involves building new infrastructure or utilizing Bell’s existing one. The debate highlights the tension between market choice and affordability in the Canadian telecom industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
