The European Union has proposed the Space Act, a comprehensive legal framework intended to enhance the European space sector’s competitiveness in global markets. The Act addresses the current fragmented regulation within the eurozone, which hinders innovation and increases costs. It introduces measures focusing on safety, resilience, and sustainability to manage space debris, mitigate cyber threats, and monitor environmental impacts. The Act will apply to both EU and non-EU operators, with requirements tailored to company size and maturity. Support measures are included for startups and SMEs, such as technical capability strengthening, access to testing facilities, and authorization assistance. The EU aims to assert its leadership in the space economy through over 40 strategic actions, including forming the European Space Team for coordinated efforts and introducing investment mechanisms. The initiative is part of a broader vision to secure Europe’s autonomy and technological advantage in the fast-growing space sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
