The British Columbia government has fully permitted the Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension (HVC MLE) project, allowing Teck Resources Ltd. to extend the mine’s operations until the mid-2040s. The mine, located west of Logan Lake, is set to produce an additional 900 million tonnes of ore and create 200 more jobs, bringing the total workforce to over 1,500. This move is part of B.C.’s efforts to diversify exports and strengthen the economy, and it marks a significant step forward in extending Canada’s largest copper mine. The project’s approval includes compliance with numerous environmental and community standards, ensuring continued Indigenous engagement and economic stability for the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
