Rahul Goel, founder of Markham-based NordSpace, is on a mission to orchestrate Canada’s first commercial rocket launch. Despite Canada’s historical contributions to aerospace, such as the Canadarm, it has never launched a rocket from its own soil. NordSpace, leveraging precision 3D printing and aerospace-grade materials, aims to change that. Under Goel’s leadership, the company has designed and test-fired a liquid-fueled rocket engine, a first for a Canadian private company. Goel, who also runs a SaaS company and a genetic technology firm, has invested approximately $10 million into NordSpace. He is now navigating regulatory challenges with Transport Canada to obtain a commercial space launch license. Goel envisions a successful launch from Newfoundland as a national turning point, fostering pride among Canadians and establishing a homegrown space industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
