Vancouver-based mining company Teck Resources has received an environmental assessment certificate from the British Columbia government to extend the life of the Highland Valley Copper Mine, which is Canada’s largest copper mine. The mine is located about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops, B.C. This decision supports the extension of the mine’s operations, which is expected to create approximately 2,900 jobs during the construction phase and support 1,500 jobs once operational. The extension will also strengthen the critical minerals supply chain in North America. Teck’s president, Jonathan Price, stated that site preparation work is expected to commence soon, with a final construction decision anticipated later this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
