SpaceX has completed the first generation of its Starlink Direct-to-Cell satellite network, which is designed to provide connectivity to standard cellphones in remote areas without existing cell towers. This service utilizes low-Earth orbit satellites equipped with cellular antennas to communicate directly with regular smartphones, eliminating the need for satellite phones or special hardware. In Canada, Rogers is the exclusive telecom partner for this technology, which aims to eliminate coverage gaps in rural and remote parts of the country. While no Canadian launch date has been announced yet, Rogers is expected to proceed with testing and rollout soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
