Snap has announced its plan to launch new AR glasses, named Specs, in 2026. At the Augmented World Expo in Long Beach, California, CEO Evan Spiegel highlighted that the Specs will be lightweight and more compact compared to previous models, making them suitable for public use. These glasses will feature see-through lenses capable of rendering graphics in real-time and will integrate advanced machine learning for AI assistance. The Specs will offer a range of applications, including shared games, a flexible workstation for browsing and streaming, and will be powered by the SnapOS developer ecosystem. Snap aims to build a library of apps and experiences with the help of developers, who can now also access the fifth-generation Spectacles in Canada. The introduction of Specs will position Snap to compete with tech giants like Apple, Meta, and Google, all vying for dominance in the AR market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
