In 2024, Apple’s App Store significantly impacted the global economy by facilitating $1.3 trillion in developer billings and sales. The sales were categorized into Digital Goods and Services, Physical Goods and Services, and In-App Advertising. The study, conducted by economists Professor Andrey Fradkin and Dr. Jessica Burley, highlights that the App Store’s reach attracted over 813 million weekly visitors globally, with sales doubling in key regions like the United States, China, and Europe over the past five years. Small developers, making up more than 90% of all developers on the App Store, saw their revenue grow by 71% between 2020 and 2022, spurred by initiatives like the App Store Small Business Program.
