Nicola Wealth Real Estate has made a significant breakthrough in sustainable construction with the completion and full leasing of Canada’s first net-zero certified self-storage facility, Maple Meadows, located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. The facility achieved net-zero status through various design and technological enhancements, such as advanced HVAC and lighting systems, full electrification, and the integration of a 294-panel solar grid capable of generating 147 kilowatts of electricity. This development not only eliminates the use of fossil fuels but also optimizes energy efficiency, resulting in a 99% reduction in operational greenhouse gas emissions. The building generates enough renewable solar photovoltaic electricity to meet its annual energy requirements, achieving substantial operational energy savings and an increased building valuation. Nicola Wealth plans to continue this trend with three more self-storage projects in the design stages, targeting zero-carbon building standards, as the demand for self-storage grows in Canada.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
