In Adelaide, South Australia, community opposition is intensifying against Tesla’s proposed battery factory. The project, which aims to establish a Tesla showroom and a battery recycling and repurposing facility, has faced significant backlash from local activists and conservation groups. The ‘Trees not Teslas’ movement, a collective of local activists, is leading the charge against the development, citing concerns over environmental impact and the removal of trees on the proposed site. Despite the Marion city council’s approval, which promises job creation and economic benefits, the group plans to escalate their protest to the state government level. They argue that the public consultation process felt perfunctory and express concerns over Tesla’s environmental practices. The South Australian government is yet to decide on the project’s approval, balancing economic growth with environmental preservation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
