Waymo, the self-driving car division of Alphabet, is ramping up its robotaxi production with a new factory in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa, Arizona. The company has announced a multi-million-dollar investment with Magna to build more than 2,000 autonomous Jaguar I-Pace vehicles. The new 239,000-square-foot facility is strategically located to serve Waymo’s robotaxi markets in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, and other regions. This expansion aims to boost the production capacity, allowing the new vehicles to enter public service almost immediately after leaving the factory. The Mesa plant will also introduce an automated assembly line and integrate the sixth-generation Waymo self-driving system into new vehicle platforms like the Zeekr RT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
