The British Columbia government has announced an investment of up to $11 million across four projects to enhance the local mass-timber manufacturing industry. This funding is part of the provincial Manufacturing Jobs Fund, aimed at strengthening homegrown companies in the forestry sector. The projects are set to create over 100 jobs and secure employment for hundreds more. Notable beneficiaries include Spearhead Timberworks in Nelson, receiving $7.5 million for a new production facility, and Westlam Industries in Langley, which will use $1.5 million to build a new plant and acquire automated equipment. This initiative comes amidst potential challenges from U.S. tariffs on Canadian lumber, with the investment intended to bolster B.C.’s competitiveness in international markets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
