Rhys Kentish, an independent app developer, has launched an innovative iOS application called ‘Touch Grass’ that aims to reduce screen time by encouraging users to physically go outside and take a photo of grass to unlock certain apps. The app, which employs computer vision AI to ensure the authenticity of the outdoor grass, was developed as a personal solution for Kentish, who realized he could spend up to seven years of his life on his phone if habits didn’t change. Since its launch, the app has been downloaded 50,000 times and runs on a freemium model, allowing users to lock two apps for free. Additional features are available via subscription, with a portion of proceeds going to rewilding efforts in the U.K. Kentish is open to investment opportunities to expand the app to Android platforms and enhance its reach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
