With Canada’s next federal election on the horizon, the focus has shifted towards setting an agenda that will drive the country’s innovation economy forward. Mark Carney, the new Prime Minister, has already made significant changes, including the appointment of new innovation and finance ministers. The Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) has proactively released a document titled ‘What Canadian Innovators Need to Scale,’ which outlines critical policy changes necessary for the growth of Canada’s innovation sector. As political parties structure their platforms, CCI emphasizes the importance of addressing the hurdles in the innovation landscape, such as procurement and productivity issues. This election could potentially become an innovation-focused election, with discussions on whether CCI’s eight policy points will be integrated into party platforms. The BetaKit Podcast features discussions with Ben Bergen, president of CCI, highlighting these issues and more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
