Entrepreneur and investor Mark Cuban has expressed his interest in funding a TikTok alternative that utilizes Bluesky’s AT Protocol. This comes in response to the anticipated U.S. TikTok ban, prompting users to explore other video platforms. Cuban’s proposal highlights the potential of an open social web ecosystem, driven by the AT Protocol, which offers a decentralized framework for social media applications. This protocol aims to address the limitations of existing decentralized systems like ActivityPub. Cuban is actively seeking developers to create a platform that can challenge TikTok, emphasizing the extensibility and account portability features of the AT Protocol, which prevent single ownership or closure. This initiative is also seen as part of Cuban’s broader strategy to compete with Elon Musk’s X, reflecting his criticism of the platform’s content moderation policies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
