This app focuses on sending disappearing messages through iMessage, functioning as a mini app within Apple’s Messages app. Explode allows users to send texts and images that recipients can view only once before they disappear. The app is designed to prevent users from taking screenshots. While the app is free, Explode+ offers additional features like screenshot alerts and photo replay for a subscription fee. Bier’s development of Explode appears to be a response to past interactions with Snapchat, which removed Gas from its SnapKit platform, affecting the app’s growth.
