A new Canadian defence company, Marconi Technologies, has been launched under the guidance of former National Bank CEO Louis Vachon and a consortium of investors. Headquartered in Montr\u00e9al, the company aims to supply hardware and communications technology to the Canadian government and allied nations. The revival of the Marconi name, originating from the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi, marks a significant move in Canada’s bid to lead in sovereign defence technology. The company emerged from the acquisition of the tactical communications division of Colbham Ultra by Canadian investors, making it a majority Canadian-owned entity. With approximately 300 employees, Marconi Technologies manufactures dual-use communications equipment, including tactical radios and satellite communication terminals, for military and civilian applications. This strategic development aligns with the Canadian government’s recent Defence Industrial Strategy, which seeks to increase the domestic share of military supply contracts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
