Ouster, a leading company in lidar technology, has announced a new lineup of lidar sensors named ‘Rev8,’ which features ‘native color lidar’ capable of capturing color imagery and 3D depth simultaneously. This innovation aims to replace traditional cameras by integrating both functions within a single sensor. The development has been a decade in the making, and the company has collaborated with Fujifilm and DXOMARK to enhance its camera capabilities. Ouster’s CEO, Angus Pacala, highlighted that the sensors will be beneficial for robotics, particularly in high-speed robo-trucking and robotaxi applications. Alongside this, Ouster has expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of StereoLabs, a company known for its stereo cameras and AI vision software. The acquisition will enable Ouster to offer a unified sensing and perception platform, combining lidar, cameras, AI compute, sensor fusion, and perception software. This move positions Ouster as a leader in the Physical AI space, providing advanced perception solutions for robotics platforms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
