Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen has made history as part of the Artemis II mission, becoming the first Canadian to travel past Earth’s low orbit on a mission around the Moon. The mission, which launched from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center, is a collaborative effort between NASA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), highlighting significant Canadian contributions. Hansen’s journey is supported by Calgary-born astronaut Jenni Gibbons, who serves as the crucial voice link from the ground. The mission also involves the expertise of Western University professor Gordon Osinski, who leads training expeditions for the astronaut crew. Furthermore, Canadian technology from Kirkland, Quebec-based Advantech Wireless Technologies is providing essential communication equipment for the mission. Despite the mission’s success, recent budget cuts have affected other CSA projects, such as the cancellation of a lunar rover mission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
