Donut Lab, a Finnish-Estonian startup, has made bold claims about its development of a revolutionary solid state battery. The company, a subsidiary of Finnish motorcycle maker Verge Motorcycles, announced that it had created the world’s first full all-solid-state battery ready for production vehicles. Promising features include a high energy density of 400Wh per kilogram, a lifespan of 100,000 cycles, rapid charging capabilities, and operation across extreme temperatures. However, skepticism surrounds these assertions as the company has provided little evidence to back them. Critics, including industry experts, have expressed doubt, pointing out the lack of transparency and proof. Donut Lab has countered by releasing a series of tests conducted by VTT Finland, though the results have been questioned. The startup’s CEO, Marko Lehtim\u00e4ki, has defended the claims, attributing criticism to vested interests. Despite the controversy, Verge Motorcycles plans to integrate Donut’s battery into its TS Pro model, with shipments expected in Q1 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
