Svante Technologies Inc., a British Columbia-based carbon management firm, has acquired Calgary’s Carbon Alpha Corporation. This acquisition includes Carbon Alpha’s North Star Bioenergy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) project, located in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, developed in partnership with the Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC). The North Star project aims to sequester carbon dioxide from waste generated by MLTC’s sustainable forestry facility into an underground aquifer. This acquisition is part of Svante’s strategy to expand its footprint in Western Canada and to scale up its carbon capture and storage solutions. The North Star project is expected to be completed by 2028 and will operate under rigorous monitoring and verification frameworks to ensure high-integrity carbon removal credits. Svante’s acquisition of Carbon Alpha also adds a regional pipeline network and a major CO2 storage hub to its portfolio, aligning with its goal of building a fully integrated carbon management business across the CSS value chain. The transaction highlights Svante’s commitment to developing sustainable carbon capture projects in collaboration with Indigenous communities and advancing global carbon management standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
