World, a project co-founded by Sam Altman and developed by the startup Tools for Humanity, has unveiled the latest version of its app, dubbed a ‘super app’. This update introduces several new features, including an encrypted chat integration and expanded capabilities for cryptocurrency transactions. The app aims to provide digital ‘proof of human’ tools to distinguish humans from AI-generated entities. The World Chat feature uses end-to-end encryption similar to Signal and indicates whether users are verified by the system. The app also enhances its digital payment system, allowing users to send and receive cryptocurrencies, and integrates virtual bank accounts for direct deposits and conversions to crypto. This launch is part of World’s broader strategy to scale its verification network, which requires users to scan their eyes using the company’s Orb devices. Recently, Tools for Humanity introduced Orb Minis to simplify this process, aiming to increase user adoption.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
