Canada’s AI ambitions are being shaped by its new AI Minister, Evan Solomon, who is actively working to advance the country’s position in AI and digital innovation. In a discussion with C100 Executive Director Michael Buhr, Solomon emphasized the need for Canada to secure capital and talent to support its AI goals. Despite previously shelving an AI bill, the country is now focusing on procurement, talent acquisition, and return on investment (ROI) within the AI sector. Solomon has launched a 26-member task force aimed at overhauling Canada’s national AI strategy amidst global uncertainty and a domestic trust deficit in AI. Prime Minister Carney has also announced a project to establish a Canadian sovereign cloud to ensure data security and bolster the nation’s leadership in AI and quantum technologies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
