Deep Sky, a Montreal-based carbon removal project developer, has inaugurated the world’s first test centre for direct air capture (DAC) technology in Innisfail, Alberta. The $110-million centre aims to advance the development of DAC systems, which remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. This facility, known as Deep Sky Alpha, will host up to ten different DAC technologies, including innovations from international partners like Airbus and Mission Zero Technologies. The centre is a significant step in addressing climate change by focusing on reducing historical carbon emissions and offsetting hard-to-abate emissions. Deep Sky plans to generate carbon removal credits, which companies like Royal Bank of Canada and Microsoft have already committed to purchasing. The initiative is part of a broader effort to leverage Canada’s renewable energy resources to power sustainable carbon capture solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
