Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, has been fined \u20ac120 million by the European Union for breaching new digital laws. The fines stem from issues related to deceptive practices around its blue tick verification badge, lack of transparency in advertising, and restricted access to public data for researchers. These actions are part of the EU’s enforcement of the Digital Services Act (DSA), which aims to regulate content on social media and large tech platforms. This ruling marks the first against X under these new laws, highlighting the EU’s commitment to holding tech companies accountable. The platform faces additional investigations concerning content dissemination and algorithm changes post-Musk’s acquisition. X has been given 90 days to respond with an action plan, though it retains the right to appeal the ruling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
