Irish authorities have been formally requested to investigate Microsoft over allegations that the company unlawfully processed data for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). According to multiple sources, including the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL), this processing involved storing a large volume of Palestinian phone calls on Microsoft’s Azure cloud service, which was used by the Israeli military for mass surveillance operations. The ICCL claims that the data processing facilitated war crimes and violations of privacy under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Following these revelations, Microsoft ended some of the IDF’s access to its cloud services. The Irish Data Protection Commission is currently assessing the complaint.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
