Inanna Publications, one of the few independent feminist presses in Canada, is navigating the challenges of the modern publishing landscape while upholding its commitment to marginalized voices. Founded in 1978, Inanna began as the Canadian Woman Studies journal and has since expanded into publishing fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction that aligns with feminist values. Evelyn Elgie, the assistant publisher, discusses the press’s efforts to adapt to changes in the industry, including the impact of social media and the need for community support. Inanna continues to focus on publishing works by women and marginalized groups, advocating for gender equality, and supporting debut authors. The press is currently in a management contract with Radiant Press, with plans for Elgie to assume the role of managing editor and publisher. Inanna’s mission is to platform voices that might otherwise be unheard, and it remains committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive publishing environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
