Ubisoft has unveiled ‘Teammates,’ a groundbreaking generative AI research project aimed at enhancing player interaction through real-time voice commands. This experimental first-person shooter, built on the Snowdrop Engine, features AI companions Sofia, Pablo, and an AI assistant named Jaspar. Players control a resistance member navigating a dystopian world while issuing voice commands to AI teammates, who interpret these commands using tone and context. Ubisoft emphasizes that the project seeks to expand interactive storytelling and character engagement without replacing human creativity. Despite concerns over AI’s impact on game development jobs and artistic integrity, Ubisoft has already conducted closed playtests and plans further iterations. The company views generative AI as a revolutionary shift in gaming, akin to the transition to 3D technology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
